PlayParty

Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before your first game night.

Getting started

How do I start a game?

Tap Create Room, choose a game, and you'll get a short room code. Share that code with your friends — they tap Join Room, type it in, and you're all in the same room. The host starts the game when everyone's ready.

How many people can play?

It depends on the game — some work with just two players, others scale up to twenty. Each game lists its recommended player count, and you can see them all on the Games page.

Do my friends need the app too?

They need to be in the same room, yes — either through the PlayParty mobile app or by opening the game in a supported web browser. Once they have the room code, joining takes a few seconds.

Video, mic & devices

My camera or microphone isn't working

Make sure you granted PlayParty camera & microphone permission in your device or browser settings, and that no other app is currently using the camera. You can toggle your mic and camera on or off at any time from the video bar during a game.

Do I have to turn my camera on?

No. The video makes the social games more fun, but it's optional — you stay in control of your camera and mic the whole time. Many games are perfectly playable with just voice.

Which devices are supported?

PlayParty runs on Android and iOS, and in modern desktop and mobile browsers. For the web version you'll want an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

Accounts, cost & privacy

Is PlayParty free?

Yes — every game is free to play.

Is my video recorded?

No. Live video and voice are never recorded or stored — they exist only for the duration of your call. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account and associated data at any time — from your in-app Profile, or by following the steps on the Delete your account page.

I found a bug or have an idea — how do I tell you?

We'd love to hear it. Email us from the Contact page or visit the Help Center.
